A non canon Pride and Prejudice What if Variation Just when Darcy decided to follow his hear. Editorplease 3 stars may be a little generousMany of the actors in this variation are much OOC And many of those are also in cahoots together against Darcy using him abusing him and not at all concerned with his happiness only with his wealth and connections You will be surprised to learn that the conspiracy consists of some whom we usually read of as Darcy s dearest friends and relations although several are perpetually on the bad and worse list Bingley Georgiana Fitzwilliam Anne and Caroline Wickham and a new character a Lord Brickman are also tangled in this web of intersecting lives and eventsThe story opens with a scene taken from the 1995 movie version of PP in that Elizabeth while on a tour of Pemberley with her Aunt and Uncle Gardiner wanders off and comes upon Darcy emerging from a swim in a pond She thinks he is a vagabond and scolds him for trespassing As in the movie Darcy rushes indoors to change into respectable garb and finds hermuch to her chagrinas they now learn of each other s identityThis tale has Darcy and Elizabeth falling in love almost at first sight They find than their share of opposition and Darcy struggles to understand why The plotters united in their goal and others have their share in how events unwind and it is not the Darcys whose happiness is in danger in the end or even whose lives experience reversals of fortune The Darcys have their resolution about half way through this book but the story does not slow down One surprise is that Hurst proves to be a friend to Darcy and gives him some good advicewords of warning Lady Catherine remains in character but others around her do not as they seek their own path We also have the Colonel s older brother Lord Fitzwilliam who has survived a marriage forced on him and has rebelled with his second marriage by marrying for love Strangely this story has Charles Bingley s father with an estate next to Rosings plus Darcy Fitzwilliam Wickham and a man named Brickman have summers in Kent as boys and adolescents spending time together There is also one named Carl Swenson who is friends with Wickham after Wickham began showing amoral characteristics That relationship has some twisted action added to by a third party which has an effect some years later on this taleThis story has little to do with canon and could have used a good editor It was hard to accept the changes in Bingley and the Colonel There is an epilogue which I always like to have included

T and chosen love over family obligation their friends and family begin to conspire against. I loved itUniue and captivating plot with a lot of fun and intriguing twists and turns Especially liked the creative reuse of Austen s words in new contexts Highly entertaining book with a lot of twists to the original characters as well thoroughly enjoyed some of their new traits There was a lot of interaction between ODC and they fall for each other early and are married half way through ODC met at Pemberley the summer before we enter canon Intrigued by each other they reunite in Hertfordshire with the timeline of canon but everything that happens are original in this off canon story Their feelings are mutual but family and friends will unite in scheming to keep them apart Some of the villains might come as a surprise as well Really enjoyed the changes to Jane and Mr Collins which both had gotten some additional strengths Several dramatic events follow as a result of the scheme for Darcy to marry Caroline Not to forget the WichamGeorgiana debacle who had a lot of additional dramaEnds in a funny epilogue with the Darcy s children and extended family coming together in a celebration Heartily recommend this book
